Bochum, March 14th. 2018 – In partnership with the toll expert Telepass S.p.A., TRAFINEO extends its portfolio by an On-Board Unit (OBU) for the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS). The EETS-OBU allows the transnational settlement of tolls throughout Europe with just one device, one contract and one invoice.
Customers of TRAFINEO are enabled to get ahold of this solution from March 2018 onwards. From market launch eight different toll systems will be covered. The product is supplemented by smart value-added services, such as “Track & Trace”.
One box for Europe: Launched with the widest country scope possible
The country scope from the beginning on covers the toll systems for Austria, Belgium including Liefkenshoektunnel, Poland (A4), Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. The integration of further European countries, tunnel and bridges will be carried out automatically as an over-the-air update, if required.
As soon as the toll operators in Germany and Poland publish the required information regarding the start of EETS, users will be enabled to handle their tolls in these countries as well.
The country scope will be continuously expanded, until a European coverage is reached.
The future of the settlement of tolls: smart box, smart services
The EETS Box of Telepass S.p.A. meets all European requirements and is equipped with the latest radio technology. Additional to DSCR- (Dedicated Short Range Communications), the box processes GNSS based tolls (Global Navigation Satellite System) reliably.
From the user perspective the toll box offers central benefits already during the installation process thanks to plug-and-play and a flexible power supply. Alternatively the box can be put into operation via continuous power supply.
As of mid-2018 the box will offer the value-added service “Track & Trace” via a user-friendly portal. Additional interfaces of the EETS-box will allow the efficient usage and processing of vehicle data. In this context further services are currently developed.
TRAFINEO and Telepass S.p.A. agree upon strategic partnership
TRAFINEO and the Italian toll expert Telepass S.p.A. have agreed on a strategic partnership for the European Electronic toll service. Telepass will be the exclusive supplier of the European Electronic toll service for TRAFINEO.

The new toll service is initially available to the end customers of BP and Aral.
